Jennifer Sammon
Of Counsel
Jennifer Sammon joined our firm in December 2024, bringing a wide range of legal experience to her Of Counsel role.
Prior to joining Thrasher, Dinsmore & Dolan, Jennifer was in private practice mediating complex business disputes, drafting Operating Agreements for local businesses, and providing litigation strategy and jury consulting services to various firms in Cleveland. During the Covid-19 shutdown, she also drafted and submitted multiple briefs to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals relating to business interruption.
Jennifer also has extensive expertise providing legal services to the insurance industry, as a defense litigator and trial attorney for Nationwide Insurance and Reminger Co., LPA. These roles saw Jennifer litigate in both state and federal courts. She also spent nearly a decade as a mediator for the Ohio Department of Education, mediating formal complaints against school districts involving special education and disciplinary matters. Jennifer also spent several years as a judicial staff attorney to Judge Donald C. Nugent of the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Ohio.
One of Jennifer’s most notable legal accomplishments is her role in the landmark opioid case against Purdue Pharma and other manufacturers and distributors of opioids, as well as the pharmacies that provided them to the public. She worked on the Special Master's Discovery Team to review all discovery and dispositive motions submitted by over 40 separate parties in roughly 1,500 federal court cases that were consolidated in the MDL in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio. As Counsel to the Special Master, Jennifer also drafted several Orders issued by Judge Dan A. Polster denying dismissal of the matter, which led to the $17.3 billion settlement of the case.
As a life member of the Cleveland State Law Alumni Association, Jennifer was invited by the Supreme Court of the United States to be sworn into the SCOTUS bar by Chief Justice John Roberts in 2016.
Jennifer is a native of Rockville Center, New York, and currently resides in Shaker Heights. In her free time, she enjoys giving tours at the Cleveland Museum of Art as a trained volunteer Docent.
