Sam O'Leary and Liz Collins Named Partners

Having worked at Matty, Henrikson & Greve, LLC and in the Civil Division of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office, Sam O’Leary joined our firm in early 2022. He enjoys both transactional and litigation work for both public and private entities.

While Sam gets results for private sector clients, such as the Mandamus reversal of a lump-sum advancement award he obtained in State ex rel. Giant Eagle, Inc. v. Ohio Industrial Comm., he is most proud of his work for local Northeast Ohio communities, like helping to reposition a former VA Hospital site for commercial redevelopment, or getting a TRO to prevent a business from illegally polluting a nearby creek.

As a former member of the City of Lakewood Tax Incentive Review Council, Board of Zoning Appeals, and former President of City Council, Sam has a deep understanding of how local governments operate and the challenges political subdivisions face in Ohio. As a former prosecutor representing Cuyahoga County on civil matters, he has broad experience related to both transactional and litigation matters.

Sam was born, raised, and currently resides with his wife and son in Lakewood, Ohio where they actively enjoy the great outdoors; hiking, gardening, and savoring the area’s incredible food scene. While earning his law degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, he participated in the Student Public Interest Law Organization, and was a writer for The Gavel.

Elizabeth Collins has broad commercial litigation experience in both state and federal court. She practices commercial litigation, class action litigation, antitrust litigation, probate litigation, employment litigation, foreclosure litigation, construction litigation and receiverships.

Liz enjoys helping solve problems for businesses and individuals, both in and out of court.  Liz served as the receiver for a property in Cleveland and has been counsel for the receiver for numerous businesses and properties throughout northeast Ohio.  She spent two years in Washington D.C. specializing in federal multi-district litigation before joining Thrasher, Dinsmore & Dolan.
